Therapy Practice
In my practice, I work in attachment, relational psychoanalytic, and trauma focused techniques. If those labels don't mean anything to you, that's ok and you're not alone. No experience necessary.

In plain English, the feelings, patterns, and thoughts that are hardest to be with and acknowledge are the ones that can cause the most distress. Bringing them to the surface takes time and requires a space that has been cultivated with trust and non-judgment. But when they are ready to be known, talked about, reflected on, and felt into, their power over you decreases and your experience of richness expands. You're able to walk through the world with more understanding and more flexibility.
My philosophy

Some people want direct feedback while others want a quiet, more patient, therapy space. I'll meet you where you're at. Together, we'll seek the right balance between feeling safe and working in the margins of comfort where change occurs. We can take the time you need. My experience is that by showing up consistently for yourself and for the work over time, even when challenging or painful to do so, possibilities open up. The goal is for life to emerge more enjoyable and fulfilling, with a greater sense of calm.
In our work together, you might bring in issues based in social dynamics, including prejudice and bias -- those are welcome. It's often helpful to examine the external world of culture and society alongside the internal experience. They constantly impact each other.
If you’re wanting to incorporate mindfulness and a spiritual perspective, we can explore that as well.

Some issues that bring people to therapy with me:

Job satisfaction and performance, or finding your career path
-
Issues related to identities on the LGBQTIA+ spectrum -- I identify as queer myself
-
Relationship and family challenges
-
Support with anger or other emotions that you want help managing
-
Ongoing impacts of trauma
-
Low motivation, lack of joy, heightened anxiety, or generally "feeling bad" far too often
-
Identity formation, especially for adolescents and young adults
